The story about QRP - expedition will be deficient without exposition of a preparatory stage. Actually it has occupied probably more forces and time, than expedition. I do not want to stop on process of deriving our call signal EM5QRP. This history costs of the whole novel and gray hair to the chairman UR - QRP - C - to Peter US1REO. I want to stop only on details of technical training to QRP - expedition. I hope, it will be useful for all those who is going to commit to QRP - expedition in the future. I shall state about process of preparation on the my example.

I recognized schedule to take in QRP - expedition two self-made transceivers for operation on 160, 80, 40 meters and industrial manufacture CB range transceiver "Promed-72". All these apparatuses were in working order, are checked, were repeatedly used by me for field operation. It is necessary at once to mark, that for operation on expeditions it is necessary to use only reliable, checked in field conditions transceivers, which are operating without disturbances. If the apparatus is not reliable works in room condition, in mountains it will leave out of operation.

Still there are particular demands, which are necessary for applying to expedition's apparatuses. Basic of them is standart of all connectors of the transceivers. Head-phones, microphone, telegraph key from one apparatus should suit to other apparatus. The antenna connectors, clips of power supply also should be unified. Unfortunately for my equipment this demand was not executed. The self-made HF-transceivers were made by me in different time. The transceiver on 40 meters manufactured in 1995, the transceiver for range of 160-80 meters manufactured in 1999. The transceiver for 40 meters was calculated on power supply from 15 V (10 elements R20 or D-type) the transceiver on 160-80 meters was calculated for power supply from 3 V (2 elements R20 or D-type). The HF-transceiver "Promed-72" was calculated for power supply from 12 V (but could work and from 15 V). In all of the three transceivers output antenna connector, the head-phones connector were different. Were different and connector for telegraph key hook up for HF - transceivers. Before I expedition has made some jumpers for all my gear. With the help of them it was possible to include my head-phones, telegraph key or matching device to any of transceivers.

Following rule - to abstain from essential repair already of operating apparatuses. Often, at executing small-sized repair of the apparatus it is possible unintentionally to infer it out of operation, and to eliminate the from expedition's apparatuses. All repair work are necessary for conducting a long before the beginning of QRP - expedition, even before some months.

Three weeks before expedition the transceivers stood on my desktop permanently turn on. At some times I conducted on them QSO's and inspected service capability of these apparatuses.

It is necessary that the apparatuses intended for usage on expedition could work on any load - both matched, and discordant. During the expedition often it possible to exist the conditions, when earlier matched antenna turned in discordant. As a result of it considerably increases SWR in an antenna feeder, that can reduce in outage of transistors of an output stage.

For reliable operation of transceivers on expedition it is necessary together with them to use a matching device (ATU ). By me some years back were made two reliable, easy weight matching devices which are capable to overlap all amateur HF -frequency bands from 160 up to 10 meters. These matching devices were repeatedly checked by me in field conditions and were permanently exploited by me on my domestic QRP-radio set. They have not brought me during our operation on Ai-Petri!

To self-made transceivers earlier I manufactured some wire dipole antennas for a range 160, 80, 40 meters. These antennas, different connectors couplings, wires, nylon cords for antenna guy, all has come in my luggage.

The kit of wire directional dipole antennas for ranges 20, 15, 10 meters was prepared by me. It was supposed to install the beam antennas in the side of USA or Oceania, that there was a possibility of holding QRP-DX QSO. But, the life deposits the correctives to premeditations of the man, and we did not manage to use beam antennas in our forwarding operation. The reasons it will be worded below.

Besides a store candles and big lantern were prepared by me for QRP expeditions. We recognized schedule to work round day - night and day, therefore it was necessary for us for night operation. Really it has helped us. With the help of this lantern we recorded the conducted QSO's at the night.

The tent and inherings providing operation in it was prepared. It is a sleeping bag, plastic rugs. Supports for candels, many other trivialities, which exposition will occupy the whole page. But the tent subsequently was not necessary to us. But I shall not hurry to open reasons, on which it has taken place, and we shall pass to exposition of other necessary things. I am so in-depth on them is intercepted that by the one who will organize similar expeditions, it was easier to make dispositions.

But it is possible to say, that all the same will not take with itself all necessary. It is necessary to happen so, that something will forget. In this case it is desirable that some necessary things were doubled by other members QRP - expedition. In this case it is possible to avoid troubles with absence of some forgotten things.

Generally it is possible to follow to a rule: to take on a maxima necessary (without which collecting, as it seems, on the expedition not do any work) things, all the same, some things will be forgotten, some will not be used by virtue of objective circumstances. But it will be better, than if the possibility QRP - operation from expedition only from any of a things, forgotten in city, was overlooked.

To exposition of necessary things it is necessary to add food supplies. It is tinned stew, everyones kasha, dry soups. On Ai-Petry there are no shop, and to supplement stores it is possible only in Yalta. And to reach in Yalta represents hard matter, especially if a weather is unfavorable.

So, the preparations for expedition were completed. On a floor of my room the vast pile of things lied which was necessary at first for containing in a backpack and large ascus, and secondly to raise. If first it was possible to execute, though with hardly, but, the second already represented the complicated task. And nevertheless I have managed these tasks. Was remember, that the weight constituted many of DX - expeditions till some tons of weight! It is good, that QRP gear, and the antennas have much less weigh. The first stage of QRP - expedition, which it is possible to name as one of principal - preparatory - was finished.

Having called a taxi to an entrance I have departed on railway station. After half an hour to night the train from Kursk has come, on which there has arrived a member of ours QRP of expedition - UA3WX, Nickolai. The tickets were acquired (truth in different coaches), we lodge in a train Moscow - Simferopol and have departed on meeting with our comrades.
