We recognized schedule to install one more work station on Ai-Petri plateau and to work from tent on QRP. But, unfortunately, it for us was not possible. On it there were objective causes. First, from the experiences tourists among the members of our command there was only Nickolai Mihaylovich - UA3WX and your writer - RK3ZK. With Nickolai we have bypassed to district and basically have puck up a place for installation of tent, arrangings of equipment and installation of antennas. But the weather, unfortunately, did not favour to installation of tent. The infinite omittings of clouds on the plateau, and constantly rains have not allowed to realize conceived. The installation of tent, and night operation could be risky for the members of our QRP-expedition, therefore instead of an ascertaining of QSO we should organize rescue party.

As a result of it we have decided to not establish tent for the second work station, and to organize per May 7 operation from field conditions. For this purpose we prepared following gear - radio set R-108 and self-made QRP-transceiver on 7 MHz. And early morning of May 7 our small movable group - UR7IRL, UR6IRL, USI-555, RK3ZK has arrived to the place of field operation. The dipole on 7 MHz (construction UR7IRL) was installed and radio equipment - QRP - transceiver on 7 MHz and radio set R-108 with wire antenna by 5 meters length were switched on.

The dipole was fine tuned on 40 meter range, and using power of 1,5 watts we have conducted the first field QSO's. But in further on our gear operation has had Ai-Petri effect. A cloud was lowered on us and after its drift the transceiver has ceased work properly. Its signal wheeze, and to work on transmission became impossible. By me it was offered, that has taken place antenna detune and the service capability of the transceiver can be restored with the help of matching device. Having contacted with base camp, we have asked to bring to us our matching device.

But, unfortunately, it has not helped us, in spite of the fact that the antenna matching nevertheless was reached. The tone of the transceiver remained enough bad for operation in ether.

Cloud, which coated us has brought moisture, which was condensed in the transceiver and inferred it out of operation. This transceiver I within 5 years tested in different conditions, that such unexpected and annoying outage was for me full unexpectednes.

But kept to work R-108. Unfortunately, in ether there were no amateur stations using FM, the CB-stations of Turkey worked in an amateur range only. It is impossible to name this stage of our expedition successful on the conducted QSO, but by way of deriving experience in mountain conditions it is possible to consider it as an instructive stage.

The large damp on Ai-Petri destroys not only radio equipment. May 6, just before our trip on Ai-Petri, from dampness my camera "Zenith" which successfully has passed with me many mountain and water campaigns has deteriorated. The shutters of the camera have dampened, and has jammed shutter. As a result of it the photos on my camera Zenith after May 6 have failed. Unfortunately, this unpleasant phenomenon I have detected only in Belgorod. And only after having lain down some days in a dry place, the camera has restored the service capability.

The transceiver has restored the service capability in 12 hours, as it was brought in our shelter from the place of field operation. I have removed from the transceiver the upper cover, and saw inside it were drop of a water.

In due time large damp in mountains prematurely has unloaded cells of one of my transceivers, which I have taken with myself in mountains. The construction of modern cell elements in a section is exhibited in fig. 7. The cell element consists of a purely element of power supply on 1,5 V (1). A surface of the element of power supply rolling by a dielectric (2) - cardboard or plastic. Atop of this dielectric the pressure of tin (3) is made. Tin , thus, electrically is insulated from poles of cell element. But only wet is dropped to the cardboard pressure test (2) as at once through it does occur a current leakage. Especially it appears in a salt fog, which makes a cardboard by an excellent conductor. In some days such cell element can be completely unloaded.

Now for my expeditions I bring up only elements with a plastic pressure test. These elements are not afraid of dampness. Recommending for those who will organize QRP-expeditions to pay attention on this most serious notice. The outage of elements of power supply at once reduces in cessation transceiver work, and, therefore, to close the expedition. It is a lot of, very many "trivialities" which are necessary be for knowing and for taking into account at QRP-expeditions arranging! However I again have distracted from exposition of our campaign пїЅ

So, the one-day of field operation has shown, that our QRP the gear are unsufficiently for operation from tent from Ai-Petri. But by operation from an enclosed location - shelter our gear will do well.
