Certainly, I want to stop on Ai-Petri remarkables. Practically everyone from us met with them, and to the end of expedition already have got used to them. But all time we felt this unforgettable and inexpressible atmosphere of antiquities and modern remarkable things enclosing us.

Certainly, largest our remarkable was Ai-Petri peak. It is towered above our place and in infrequent minutes, when the clouds dispersed represented a remarkable show. Peak Ai-Petri represents a huge coral reef. The corals in the sea live on small depth, up to 100 meters. But the altitude of Ai-Petri reef exceeds 600 meters. It speaks that the bottom of the ancient sea slowly lowered, and corals to survive permanently were building its houses. Millions years have passed, and the period of omitting was replaced by a period of the raising. The colony of corals has mounted above sea level. Remarkable three-shoot the aspect Ai-Petri is obliged obviously to results of an eolation of a rock of corals, however there are also other versions of derivation of its aspect. The Ancient Greeks considered, that Zews has staggered Ai-Petri with a lightning, that it would be below them sacred mountain Olimp. As a result of lightning stroke Zews Ai-Petri has turned in a trident, which always should be remind to the people about of force of the gods.

In this case host of our shelter - Wladimir Each stone of Ai-Petri is impregnated with a history. Crimea is mastered by the man for a long time, in immemorial times. On Ai-Petri, near Bedene-Kyr mountain, in 5 kilometers from us the parking cave of the ancient man is. Many path in mountains exist of many thousand years. May be on them our grandparents with immovable weapons in hand go with aim to get themselves livelihood caught. In antique time, the ancient Greeks widely mastered of Crimea. In place of present Yalta, which was in 12 kilometers on a line-of-sight from our shelter is ancient Greek settlement Sikita. The majority of this ancient city now is under a water at the bottom of Black sea.

The mountain Ai-Petri served to the Greeks as beacon in their navigation on the inhospitable Black sea. They named the mountain Ai-Petri "Ram mountain" because of some resemblance of Ai-Petri mountain to a head of a ram.

The Greeks in basic settled on Crimea coast, they seldom mounted on the Crimean plateau. It was coupled that the plateau of those times were coated with woods, where many wild beasts-lion, tiger, bears lived. After the dissolving of Greece the monitoring above former Greek colonys has locked to Rome. Rome to a pedantry, inherent to them, have coupled many Crimean cities disposed at the coast by a stone roads, which passed on coast and till Crimean plateau. Near Ai-Petri mountain till now there passes ancient Rome road "Via milatory", which tied ancient city-state Hersones (grounded by the Greeks in 5 century B.C.,) with Roman fort Harakas (grounded in 2 century B.C.), which is disposed on cape Ai-Todor.

During Hersones heyday in it was lived more than 20000 inhabitants (approximately). This very significant number of the inhabitants. Hersones was larger than many cities of ancient Greece. Now Hersones and Harakas by the greater of the part are at the bottom of Black sea. During one of powerful ancient earthquakes the sea has occurred at coast and has swallowed many ancient Rome and Greek city.

But in Crimea from Rome there was stayed a road made between these cities and some of the part transiting on Ai-Petri plateau. Already 2000 years to this road, but local inhabitants till now use it. The road is made under small inclination, both rains and the winds permanently clear it from a dirty, the snow from it is blown off by a wind. The road passes on raised places of Ai-Petri plateau and majority of a season this road clear and it may be used. The road passes on congenial geomagnetic links of ground, and when go on the road, even with a heavy backpack do not feel fatigue. During the travels on Crimea I also had trip on this road.

With Nickolai Mihaylovich I wanted again to get this ancient road. We practically have reached it, but the bad weather has made us to return.

Rome , which actively mastered the Greek colonys banished there christians. In those far times of a beginning of our era of Crimea was the detention facility, where the criminals referred. Concluded, slaves, the christians built roads, got the Crimean stone, grew a grapes, grow of grove of walnuts. Many ancient groves of walnut landed in Crimea in the beginning of our era, have remained up to now. Some scientists consider, that to some trees of walnut in these groves for 2000 years. Though others consider, that the trees of walnut do not live more than 500 years. So it is the matter of argument�

In Crimea the system of ancient monasteries is, and among them cave monasteries was widely spread. Many cave monasteries were saved before our times. Near many of monasteries subsequently there were large Crimean fortified cities.

On an equal site under Ai-Petri mountain there was earlier ancient monastery grounded presumably in I century of our era. The monastery was named "Sacred Peter". Now not clearly, whether in honour of the monastery is called Ai-Petri (Sacred Peter) mountain or the mountain was called so earlier. Also Ai-Petria is translated from ancient Greek as "Sacred stone". There is conjecture with ancient tawry. They brought victims in honour of the paganism gods on the top of Ai-Petri mountain.

Now under Ai-Petri peak there were only ruins of the monastery, which as consider was destroyed at 14-15 century.

Near us on Boyko mountain there was other ancient monastery, around of which the ancient city was subsequently grounded. From this city there was an ancient road till the plateau in Yalta. Just about this ancient road there was a place of our day-time work place. Earlier This road was paved by a stone, but it was saved much worse than ancient Roman road, and from it (Boyko road) there were only separate immovable fragments. On them the track from ancient vehicle is well visible. After some centuries from sprockets vehicle the track in some places was derivated by depth till 10-20 cm. We did not manage to photograph this road, because when with Nickolai Mihaylovich I have reached to it, the cloud has falled and there was a strong rain. We had hastily to be return in our shelter, as we gone in this travel unsufficiently well dressed for the bad weather. Later we would not have time to repeat once again this trip.

After 15 centuries the life on Ai-Petri plateau practically has ceased behind destructive wars of a middle ages. Were destroyed practically all cave and mountain cities. Only after 18 centuries, after association of Crimea to Russia the peninsula gradually began to be filled by the people. Many ancient cities revived, the roads linking different of Crimea places were made.

On Ai-Petri plateau there passes a road Bakhchisarai - Yalta constructed by Russian soldiers in a middle of 19 centuries. The road is passed on very steepness slopes. In some places it is reached on steep slopes of 80 degrees! The descension from Ai-Petri in Yalta on this serpentine road till now represents not prime matter.

During winter this road often cover by snow. Romanovich clears away this road on a powerful tractor. During construction of this road on rock Shishco (named on the name of the engineer creating this road) the observation desk was constructed. Till now from this observation desk the people admire unique aspects opening from Ai-Petri.

During construction (in a middle 19 centuries) the roads on plateau were build the tavern "WELCOM!" ( now in the place our tourist shelter is ) and meteorological station. The meteorological station transmited weather reports from plateau in Yalta in the years. But only in 1895 this meteorological station was arranged pursuant to then standards, and has come in the list of meteorologic stations of the Russian Empire.

Building of the meteorological station of construction of 1895 till now was saved. Meteoplace with meteo gear certainly has undergone significant variations, but till now on the meteorological station in warehouse there were those ancient gears, which were used on it in the beginning of 20 centuries. The inspector of the meteorological station (Ozerov Vycheslav Mihaylovich ) promised us them to show, but as the usually objective circumstances have hindered. As Vycheslav Mihaylovich has no time - he was engaged in operation on meteorological station, or we were in travel on plateau.

Other remarkable of the plateau is wind electro station, about which already was written above. It delivered in 1988. At installation wind station, its propeller was destroyed and since then there is this power station as any fancy, unearthly object.

One more ancient remarkable Ai-Petri is called "Ai-Petria meridian". It was installed in 1913 and represents a pig-iron terrestrial globe on pedestal. Coordinates(co-ordinates) of this reper mark - 44/28 // of northern latitude and 34 / 3 // of east longitude. Due to this reper was conducted mapping of Ai-Petri plateau and terrains, adjoining to it. But the terrestrial globe overhead pedestal has appeared the convenient target for the different fans to verify the accuracy. Shot at it during revolution of 1917, during the second world war. Up to a middle of 80 years the globe stood with hole in the top and with rupture holes from bullets. Its cosmetic repair later was manufactured, but till now in it the tracks of large hole and tracks of bullets are clear visible. Till now Ai-Petri meridian, as the cartographical mark (reper) has not lost the value.

Other Ai-Petri remarkable are the vast full-spheres from a dielectric stuff, which close antennas of radars and space communication stations. Military were strongly justified on Ai-Petri and similar still long will there. But military do a lot of useful works for civilian population. During strong snowfalls in the winter they clear away roads from snow drifts, in case of immovable landslips, clear away road from stones. Sometimes bring a water for a meteorological station and tourist shelter, help on economic matters.

Well, that is all remarkables for Ai-Petri. Though, perhaps, no. Cave. Many from cave on the plateau are enclosed for visit (though, certainly, at large desire there it is possible to get). On the plateau are 302 detected cave. Certainly, actually them is greater, and practically each year the cave explorers open 1-2 cave on plateau. We have visited in one opened for visit carst cave with a title "Pyramid". This cave was opened in 1996, and was in several kilometers from our tourist shelter. The members of our expedition with pleasure were lowered under ground, having felt himself the cave explorers

Now exposition of remarkables Ai-Petri, which were around us, have completed. I hope it will be useful for the one who will follow to our example and take DX expedition in this remarkable place.
